It is curious to why China, being one of the strongest country in regards to GDP at 7 million, has provided 100,000 US dollars. Even the the Vatican being one smallest countries in existence has contributed 50,000 US dollars more than China. It may be possible that China may have some rancor with the Philippines due to the recent conflict on the Spratly Islands. However, countries such as the United Stats, having the highest GDP on the list, has contributed the most to the recuperation of the Philippines not only because of the alliance between the two countries but also because of the United State's past and present relations such as trade between the countries and the previous occupation in the Philippines.
